Life Blog #1 Presents Haul from Japan!

Hey guys!

Welcome to my blog! As stated above, this post will be one of the many ‘Life Blog’ that I’ll be doing from time to time just going on about things that interests me or updates of my boring life :)

It’s incredible how fast time flies because already am I late on doing much posting on this blog Haha. Things just got super busy at my workplace and since I’m currently on university summer break, I’m always on call (It means more money so I’m not complaining). Nothing much has happened besides dealing with all kinds of customers doing their Christmas shopping and people demanding that the store have more Christmas stock when it’s literally Christmas day tomorrow! You should be blaming your poor ass for not planning it beforehand. Retail, I love it and I hate it lol.

Enough of me rambling on, although it is categorized ‘Life Blog’. My Boyfriend; Andrew has recently came back from a holiday trip in Japan with MANY Japanese goodies for me and I’d like to share that with you guys. I’m not going to be taking photos of all of it (as it would take forever) and also this is not going to be a full review on any of the product as I have barely the time to go through them all. Here’s a photo of the whole thing that I posted on Instagram and Facebook :).

A lot of things you see are random cat related because I have a super obsession with cats and all things related to cats SUCH AS PUSHEEN (my favourite). But as you can see, there are lots of skincare, makeup and nails products and I can’t wait to give you guys a full review on each of it (which I promise will be soon!).

I’m going to start off with something that bought at the beginning of his trip (he went for about four weeks so it was a REALLY long time to be excited about something). The CANMAKE nail polishes which I only chose the glitter series because I have way too many normal coloured ones (I got him to grab 7 out of 9 on the shelf lol).

I’ve just decided to try out one of it last night on my nails and so far, I have a love and hate opinion on it but stay tuned if you want me to give a full reviews on these nail polishes <3.

Some other items that I got from the same brand is the most mentioned product, the ‘Your Lips Only Gloss’ which is a lip gloss that changes the shade of the lip gloss depending on the moist on your lips I believe. Let me say that I am NEVER the lip gloss kind of person, I hated the feeling that lipgloss doesn’t exactly try on your lips BUT! I had to try these out to see if it does what it says.

Also bought this bad boy here :)

Moving on, he went into this everything 390YEN store which had some makeup brand I’ve never heard of like ‘citycolour’ (let me know if you know it!) and I surprisingly found ‘L.A. Girls’ Lip paints. I have nothing to say about it just yet, I only wanted to pick up one of the few items to try it out and so I’ll come back to you guys on what I think about it in general or in a full review. Other items that I’ve got in the photo are makeup from Cezanne, Kose, Fasio and Daiso which are very ordinary makeup products that was super cheap and so I wanted to see the myths of Japanese drugstore makeup being high quality and all.

NEXT are the skincare products that I got! Originally I didn’t think I wanted to buy any skincare from Japan because we do have a ‘W cosmetics’ in Brisbane, Australia and I’d pickup Korean skincare there and also I’m not a HUGE fan of skin routine as mentioned in my previous post. I’m lazy as hell haha. Although that is so, I’ve been watching some Japanese haul on YouTube and everyone has been mentioning this brand (pictures below) that according to the reviews is so natural and amazing. It’s the Tonyu Isofurabon which is a Japanese skincare product that is made out of pure soymilk? (Correct me if I’m wrong haha I should really do more research ><). I don’t know if this brand has changed over the year but those reviewed online, I am able to only find half of it in the drugstores. They are super cheap and I can’t wait to try it out and see if it fits my type of skin and also do a full review on it because I surely found it difficult to find a proper review on it.

I also got these face masks which are sold in 'W cosmetics' but for 3 times the price!

I’m going to end my post here as I feel like it’ll go on forever if I mentioned everything single item in the photo :). If you’d like to know more about any of the items that I did or did not mentioned comment below and let me know. Besides that, please follow me on here or my Instagram @lisaahpants.

Like always I’d like to finish my post with this statement that I am not a professional makeup guru or critic and that everyone has different opinions on products and something may not work for me can work well for others. This post is genuinely my personal experience that I’d like to share with you guys and so I hope you find it interesting and helpful in some way.

Cheers <3

Beauty Blog #1 Estee Lauder Corporate Sale mini haul

Hey, guys!

So today I'll be blogging about my amazing experience attending the Estee Lauder Corporate Sale on the 3rd of December that was hosted by the Pyjamas Foundation in Brisbane (as that's where I'm located). It's held every year I'm pretty sure and tickets are for sale for 10 dollars per person(which they do run out real quick!). To be honest, everytime I get invited to these kinds of events I've always been quite sceptical because I thought the sales wouldn't be that great anyways (oh was I so wrong haha).

I'll start by explaining how it all works, which I'm sure if you've attended or will attend they will have you informed at the door but who doesn't like a little heads up? Once you've purchased your tickets they will mail you your printed copy which you would take to the event. The tickets are to presented when you finalise your purchase at the counter, as I believe it's supposed to restrict you from making multiple purchases (correct me if I'm wrong, haha just taking a blind guess). SO! The biggest misconception most of my lady friends have with this event is that they only sell Estee Lauder product (due to the name only mentioning Estee Lauder) and let me tell you there are definitely other brands including MAC, Bobbi Brown, Clinique and few other makeup/skincare brand I'm not too familiar with.

Most products there are mostly 60% off and some are dropped even further if there are red markings on the products! (awesome right?) This brings me to the first product that caught my eyes, the Bobbi Brown nail polishes!

Bobbi Brown Nail Polishes

RRP: 24.00AUD (taken from www.bobbibrown.com.au)
Sale Price: 5.00AUD

Although there was like only a total of 4 different colours on the shelf (which I grabbed 3 out of the 4 haha), it was super cheap as shown above they were only for 5 dollars each! The colours that I've got are Bordeaux, Cherry Tomato and Navy (ordered left to right). Just this morning I tried out the first colour Bordeaux (photo below) and the quality of the product is incredible! It just glides on the nail and doesn't get clumpy, two coats was definitely enough to get a full coverage of the colour. The colour payoff matches exactly with the bottle itself and this to me is all I ever wanted when buying nail polish haha for it to look how I'd expect it to look! (holla if you understand what I meant!). In total, I saved a good 19 dollars on each product and that is what you call a bargain <3

Another product from Bobbi Brown that I purchased is the Skin Foundation!

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation

RRP: 72.00AUD (taken from Mecca Maxima Website)
Sale Price: 43.00AUD

I rarely do buy a lot of high-end foundation especially when I don't need one, so I tend to only use one high-end product at a time. Unfortunately, the product that I am currently using is the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, it doesn't have the complete accurate shade for my skin tone and thus I often have to mix it with a lighter foundation to get the right tone. Therefore I wanted to find another high-end foundation that is more suited for my skin tone and I've always been super obsessed with Bobbi Brown. So when I saw it being on sale I just couldn't resist but grab a bottle of these bad boys in the tone Warm Beige 3.5. I've looked at a few review by popular YouTubers such as Shaanox and there has been numerous positive feedback on it. I did have a try for the first time last night and it is definitely a nice lightweight foundation which gives a light to medium coverage which then gives a natural kind of feel as well as it would look wearing it. It did give a slightly dewy finish which I don't normally go for but it didn't bother me so much. It's a nice foundation when you don't feel like having a full face makeup and maybe good for either everyday makeup look or just any casual event.

The next product caught my eyes as soon as I saw that they have the Clinique brand because I've been running low on one of my skin routine product which is the Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator!

Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator

RRP: 60.00AUD (taken from Mecca Maxima website)
Sale Price: 36.00AUD

It's only been within a year that I got into the brand Clinique as part of my skincare routine and to be honest it is barely any routine because I am super lazy with skincare (I know it's bad :( haha). I do however believe in night time skin replenishing and so I like to use an intense moisturiser to use at night before I go to bed. As my skin type is combination/oily skin, I like a moisturiser that gives it that great boost but doesn't oil up your skin overnight and clinique so far as been the best product that leaves my skin feeling super soft the morning after. If you haven't tried it, give it go! Sometimes it's best to go for the slightly expensive product than continuously shopping around and wasting money on cheap brands that just don't work.

The last brand that appealed to me at the sale was MAC cosmetics. I'm not usually a big fan of this brand because I feel like some of the stuff are quite over price but with the 60% off it didn't feel so bad to try out some of their products. In fact, I use to use alike many others fellow makeup users; the Matchmaker foundation and it was actually one of my first high-end foundation I've laid my hands on. It was a good foundation until I think it made my skin very flaky which I didn't like. Anyways! The two products I purchased is the MAC Studio Careblend/Pressed powder and the Lip pencil .

MAC Studio Careblend/Pressed Powder

RRP: 43.00AUD
Sale Price: 26.00AUD

As I'm writing up this post, I've just realised that I actually don't have any high-end powder foundation ><. I think because I've been using the Rimmel Stay Matte powder foundation and it has been working for me and thus I don't have the need to seek for other powder foundation? Also, there hasn't been one that calls out to me enough for me to purchase it. However, the minute I had a feel of this compact it was super smooth and it felt the same going on my face. It didn't make my face look cakey and it does mattify my foundation even more than the Rimmel powder (which is awesome!). There isn't much more I could say about this product because I'd need to keep using it for awhile to have a solid opinion. For now? It does its job and that's all I need. The tone I got is the Medium Plus which had a little pink undertone.

MAC Lip Pencil
RRP: 30.00AUD
Sale Price: 10.00AUD

(This image was taken straight from www.maccosmetics.com.au because I couldn't take a clear photo of it)

Besides the Bobbi Brown Nail Polish, this product I grabbed was also marked further down in read and thus I got it for only 10 dollars! I have not tried it on yet because I've yet to go out during the evening or have an event where I'd be wearing dark lipstick but I can't wait to give it a try because like the powder foundation this is my first high-end lip pencil that I've got in my collection. It does feel really smooth when drawn on my hands but that is probably not enough to tell you guys how it is on my lips. (Stay tuned because I might post a little update to the product)

And that's a wrap, guys! Overall I LOVE this corporate sale and would definitely go again next year to grab more bargain. Unlike people who uses/purchase makeup as a career or hobby, I wish had money to spur a lot and to be honest spending as much as I did was already so crazy for me and to others it may not seem much but it is when you've got a budget like mine.

Like always I'd like to finish my post with this statement that I am not a professional makeup guru or critic and that everyone has different opinions on products and something that may not work for me can work well for others. This post is genuinely my personal experience that I'd like to share with you guys and so I hope you find it interesting and helpful in some way. Cheers <3

Review #2 Models Prefer "Colour Basics" Palette

Hi guys!

It's going to be another review today and for all those ladies who shop at Priceline (a chemist/makeup store in Australia) this review is on the exclusive Priceline brand; Models Prefer!

Models Prefer “Colour Basics” Palette
RRP: 15.00 AUD
Location: This product is an exclusive brand to Priceline stores.

Summary: Although it has been around Priceline for quite awhile now, I’ve always been hesitant to try out the brand because its products were not shouting out to me at all. Only recently have I heard great reviews, both on makeup forums and from Youtubers, and so I’ve decided to give this brand a try. So far, I have used this palette too much because I prefer using my ChiChi “Nudes” Glamour Palette (which I hope to review soon!). What attracts me most to this product is that it includes a few crème eyeshadows which is rare to have on a palette because it is usually sold in single tubs. I also really love the packaging because not only does it includes a mirror on the inside of the lid, it has clear holes so that you’re able to see through to the eyeshadow colours. The palette as shown in the pictures below has the regular powder eyeshadows, crème eyeshadows, some blushes and a bronzer. Let’s just get right into it!

Powder Eyeshadows

Appearance: The powder eyeshadow section of this palette has a range of neutral colours such as cream to brown and cool tone colours that mostly consists of blue and green shades with some purple and smoky colours. Most of the shades have shimmers with less than a handful that are actually matte. This palette can be useful if you are looking to achieve natural everyday make-up or a dramatic nightlife look.

Formula: On touch, it has a soft creamy texture and glides on well. The pigmentations of these powder eyeshadows are not very opaque and most of the shades such as the nude and lighter colours doesn’t show very well (some does not appear on the skin at all. With that being said, the ones that does show up goes beautiful with dramatic make-up for a night out. The formula does have fall outs quite a bit but it is understandable for the price you’re paying for (Not to worry, as it can be easily remove by sweeping a clean brush lightly across the face to remove fall outs!).

Crème Eyeshadows

Appearance: The crème eyeshadows colour range has one shade of each colour; one for each matching powder eyeshadows. Like the powder eyeshadows, all of the shades have shimmers. With the selection of colours it can be difficult to create a make-up look with only these colours. It may seem that these colours are only good for a base colour to brighten up the finished eyeshadow look.

Formula: As it is a crème eyeshadow, it does appear to have the expected buttery feeling to it. The colour pay-off of this formula is very sheer and close to nothing at all. It is not advisable to use this eyeshadow alone and it would be too transparent; also with the colour choices it would appear unnatural. Like mentioned in the appearance of these eyeshadow, it is a good base eyeshadow and something I would use to help the powder eyeshadow to apply easier on the eyelids.

Blush & Bronzer

Appearance: My first impression of the blushes on this palette was that it is very pretty. The pink blush can be used for a more intense look and the peach colour for the everyday look. Though after closely looking at it and sampling it on my hand, the peach is very shimmery (and I do not favour shimmery blushes). The bronzes on this palette has 2 shades, a light shade that can be used to achieve a light sun tan and a darker shade can be used for contouring. With that being said, both the bronzer does have shimmer and that can be unfavourable for some include (especially me).
Formula: As with the formula through out the whole palette, it all has a soft touch and feels really nice. All the shades, excluding the pink blush, is very sheer. It is buildable but will take a bit of effort to achieve a more intense outcome. The pink blush on the other hand does come off very pigmented (try to use a very little amount at a time to avoid a blush overload!).

Overall, this palette is very useful for those who are just started out with make-up because it is definitely affordable (only 15 AUD!) and it has a range of different colours that can allow you to achieve multiple make-up looks. Not only does it have the powder range but also a crème range for those who are not familiar with the formula and does not want to spend money on just one single shade (because it is normally sold separately).

So that’s all for the review! Hope you guys find the information useful and I just want to say that everyone has different opinions on products and something that may not work for me can work well for others. This review is just for those who wanted to get a feel of what the product is like before trying and purchasing.

Have an opinion? Comment below and let me know what your experiences are with this palette and whether it was a hit or miss for you!

Review #1 Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks

Hi everyone!

My name is lisaahpants :D and welcome to my blog! I’m a born and raised Australian with Vietnamese cultural background? Haha something along that line (bear with me). I will be using this blog for random spur of the topics as well as reviewing makeup products that I’ve found to love/hate <3! Please follow if you find my reviews helpful or simply follow because I’d just love you for it ;) Cheers!

Today’s post will be a makeup product review  on Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick, so read on if that interests you!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks
RRP: 21.95 AUD
Location: Can be found in most drugstores (Priceline, Chemist Warehouse etc.)/Myer etc.

Summary: Revlon is one of the brands that I’d always go to when I want something reliable yet inexpensive and more affordable compared to high end products. The packaging is nice, sleek and luxurious with gold rims in the middle. The transparent top of the lid makes it easy to identify the colour of the actual lipstick as opposed to relying on misleading printed labels that almost always deviates from the true lipstick tone. Within the four different types of formulas in this series the Matte formula is advertised separately compared to the other formulas. As for my personal preference of being an everything-matte girl, the Matte formula is something I’d always reach for in my collection. Today I will be reviewing the four types of formulas in total with shades ranging from light pink to dark plum. Let’s begin!

Crème
Colour Performances: For the Crème formula I have here the 440 Cherries in the Snow and 677 Siren. As you can see the 677 is a bright orange and the 440 is a dark rich hot pink. The colour performances for both these colours are very opaque and does give a matte-like result. 677, which is a lighter than the 440, does appear a slightly more sheer. The colour is definitely buildable if you want full coverage.
Formula: The formula for this type has a very creamy consistency and very moisturising. The formula stays on the lip for a standard 4/5 hours and only requires re-application after activities that involves rough contact; for example, dining.

Matte
Colour Performances: For the Matte formula, here I have the 005 Fiery Sunset, 004 Retro Red and 016 Paradise Pink. As the names suggest, 005 is a bright orange, 004 retro red is a burgundy red, and 016 is a strawberry-like pink. As mentioned before, I really love their matte selection and the reason for it is you could always apply a light layer if you want are more natural translucent effect or continue and add multiple layers to give a gorgeous opaque finish.
Formula: Although most low end matte products can dry out your lips, these matte lipsticks are so creamy that they will keep your lips moisturized throughout the entire wear. The formula does not budge on the lips and lasts fairly long throughout the day; excluding dining which may require re-application.

Shine
Colour Performances: For the Shine formula, here I have the 801 Pink Cloud and 850 Plum Velour. Out of the four formulas this one is probably my least favourite because the colour payoff is not very good and is very sheer.
Formula: The formula is like all the other formulas, very creamy and glides on the lips well. It is very glossy which some people would prefer but as I am already satisfied with the size of my plump lips, I do not require additional shine for it to appear larger. As it is very sheer there is a tendency to move on the lips so a lip liner is encouraged.

Pearl
Colour Performances: For this particular formula I only own the 029 and it is unlikely that I will further purchase this particular formula again. This formula is very simular to the Shine formula because it is very sheer and not very buildable on the lips and therefore the final colour is not strong. This type of formula is suitable if you only want a hint of colour for a more subtle look. It is less shiny than the Shine formula and is therefore more suitable for natural looks such as the ‘no makeup’ makeup look.
Formula: This is also one of my least favourite formulas in the series because I find that it leaves a lot of excess product on the lips. This makes it too easy to smudge when you accidentally fall into contact with your lips during the day (which is not good at all!). Rather than being creamy like the others, Matte and Crème, it is very, very oily and not easy to apply at all if you’re in a rush as it will just glide all over the place!

So that’s all for the review! Hope you guys find the information useful and I just want to say that everyone has different opinions on products and something that may not work for me can work well for others. This review is just for those who wanted to get a feel of what the product is like before trying and purchasing. Enjoy and hope to see you guys next time!
