Hi guys!
It's going to be another review today and for all those ladies who shop at Priceline (a chemist/makeup store in Australia) this review is on the exclusive Priceline brand; Models Prefer!
Models Prefer “Colour Basics” Palette
RRP: 15.00 AUD
Location: This product is an exclusive brand to Priceline stores.
Summary: Although it has been around Priceline for quite awhile now, I’ve always been hesitant to try out the brand because its products were not shouting out to me at all. Only recently have I heard great reviews, both on makeup forums and from Youtubers, and so I’ve decided to give this brand a try. So far, I have used this palette too much because I prefer using my ChiChi “Nudes” Glamour Palette (which I hope to review soon!). What attracts me most to this product is that it includes a few crème eyeshadows which is rare to have on a palette because it is usually sold in single tubs. I also really love the packaging because not only does it includes a mirror on the inside of the lid, it has clear holes so that you’re able to see through to the eyeshadow colours. The palette as shown in the pictures below has the regular powder eyeshadows, crème eyeshadows, some blushes and a bronzer. Let’s just get right into it!
Powder Eyeshadows
Appearance: The powder eyeshadow section of this palette has a range of neutral colours such as cream to brown and cool tone colours that mostly consists of blue and green shades with some purple and smoky colours. Most of the shades have shimmers with less than a handful that are actually matte. This palette can be useful if you are looking to achieve natural everyday make-up or a dramatic nightlife look.
Formula: On touch, it has a soft creamy texture and glides on well. The pigmentations of these powder eyeshadows are not very opaque and most of the shades such as the nude and lighter colours doesn’t show very well (some does not appear on the skin at all. With that being said, the ones that does show up goes beautiful with dramatic make-up for a night out. The formula does have fall outs quite a bit but it is understandable for the price you’re paying for (Not to worry, as it can be easily remove by sweeping a clean brush lightly across the face to remove fall outs!).
Crème Eyeshadows
Appearance: The crème eyeshadows colour range has one shade of each colour; one for each matching powder eyeshadows. Like the powder eyeshadows, all of the shades have shimmers. With the selection of colours it can be difficult to create a make-up look with only these colours. It may seem that these colours are only good for a base colour to brighten up the finished eyeshadow look.
Formula: As it is a crème eyeshadow, it does appear to have the expected buttery feeling to it. The colour pay-off of this formula is very sheer and close to nothing at all. It is not advisable to use this eyeshadow alone and it would be too transparent; also with the colour choices it would appear unnatural. Like mentioned in the appearance of these eyeshadow, it is a good base eyeshadow and something I would use to help the powder eyeshadow to apply easier on the eyelids.
Blush & Bronzer
Appearance: My first impression of the blushes on this palette was that it is very pretty. The pink blush can be used for a more intense look and the peach colour for the everyday look. Though after closely looking at it and sampling it on my hand, the peach is very shimmery (and I do not favour shimmery blushes). The bronzes on this palette has 2 shades, a light shade that can be used to achieve a light sun tan and a darker shade can be used for contouring. With that being said, both the bronzer does have shimmer and that can be unfavourable for some include (especially me).
Formula: As with the formula through out the whole palette, it all has a soft touch and feels really nice. All the shades, excluding the pink blush, is very sheer. It is buildable but will take a bit of effort to achieve a more intense outcome. The pink blush on the other hand does come off very pigmented (try to use a very little amount at a time to avoid a blush overload!).
Overall, this palette is very useful for those who are just started out with make-up because it is definitely affordable (only 15 AUD!) and it has a range of different colours that can allow you to achieve multiple make-up looks. Not only does it have the powder range but also a crème range for those who are not familiar with the formula and does not want to spend money on just one single shade (because it is normally sold separately).
So that’s all for the review! Hope you guys find the information useful and I just want to say that everyone has different opinions on products and something that may not work for me can work well for others. This review is just for those who wanted to get a feel of what the product is like before trying and purchasing.
