Review #1 Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks

Hi everyone!

My name is lisaahpants :D and welcome to my blog! I’m a born and raised Australian with Vietnamese cultural background? Haha something along that line (bear with me). I will be using this blog for random spur of the topics as well as reviewing makeup products that I’ve found to love/hate <3! Please follow if you find my reviews helpful or simply follow because I’d just love you for it ;) Cheers!

Today’s post will be a makeup product review  on Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick, so read on if that interests you!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks
RRP: 21.95 AUD
Location: Can be found in most drugstores (Priceline, Chemist Warehouse etc.)/Myer etc.

Summary: Revlon is one of the brands that I’d always go to when I want something reliable yet inexpensive and more affordable compared to high end products. The packaging is nice, sleek and luxurious with gold rims in the middle. The transparent top of the lid makes it easy to identify the colour of the actual lipstick as opposed to relying on misleading printed labels that almost always deviates from the true lipstick tone. Within the four different types of formulas in this series the Matte formula is advertised separately compared to the other formulas. As for my personal preference of being an everything-matte girl, the Matte formula is something I’d always reach for in my collection. Today I will be reviewing the four types of formulas in total with shades ranging from light pink to dark plum. Let’s begin!

Crème
Colour Performances: For the Crème formula I have here the 440 Cherries in the Snow and 677 Siren. As you can see the 677 is a bright orange and the 440 is a dark rich hot pink. The colour performances for both these colours are very opaque and does give a matte-like result. 677, which is a lighter than the 440, does appear a slightly more sheer. The colour is definitely buildable if you want full coverage.
Formula: The formula for this type has a very creamy consistency and very moisturising. The formula stays on the lip for a standard 4/5 hours and only requires re-application after activities that involves rough contact; for example, dining.

Matte
Colour Performances: For the Matte formula, here I have the 005 Fiery Sunset, 004 Retro Red and 016 Paradise Pink. As the names suggest, 005 is a bright orange, 004 retro red is a burgundy red, and 016 is a strawberry-like pink. As mentioned before, I really love their matte selection and the reason for it is you could always apply a light layer if you want are more natural translucent effect or continue and add multiple layers to give a gorgeous opaque finish.
Formula: Although most low end matte products can dry out your lips, these matte lipsticks are so creamy that they will keep your lips moisturized throughout the entire wear. The formula does not budge on the lips and lasts fairly long throughout the day; excluding dining which may require re-application.

Shine
Colour Performances: For the Shine formula, here I have the 801 Pink Cloud and 850 Plum Velour. Out of the four formulas this one is probably my least favourite because the colour payoff is not very good and is very sheer.
Formula: The formula is like all the other formulas, very creamy and glides on the lips well. It is very glossy which some people would prefer but as I am already satisfied with the size of my plump lips, I do not require additional shine for it to appear larger. As it is very sheer there is a tendency to move on the lips so a lip liner is encouraged.

Pearl
Colour Performances: For this particular formula I only own the 029 and it is unlikely that I will further purchase this particular formula again. This formula is very simular to the Shine formula because it is very sheer and not very buildable on the lips and therefore the final colour is not strong. This type of formula is suitable if you only want a hint of colour for a more subtle look. It is less shiny than the Shine formula and is therefore more suitable for natural looks such as the ‘no makeup’ makeup look.
Formula: This is also one of my least favourite formulas in the series because I find that it leaves a lot of excess product on the lips. This makes it too easy to smudge when you accidentally fall into contact with your lips during the day (which is not good at all!). Rather than being creamy like the others, Matte and Crème, it is very, very oily and not easy to apply at all if you’re in a rush as it will just glide all over the place!

So that’s all for the review! Hope you guys find the information useful and I just want to say that everyone has different opinions on products and something that may not work for me can work well for others. This review is just for those who wanted to get a feel of what the product is like before trying and purchasing. Enjoy and hope to see you guys next time!

Love lisaahpants.
